How to actually post consistent content

You wrote it out, didn’t you? Your goal to post more content in 2024? You put that in a journal, you set your intention, you did some manifestation. You kicked off January with all-time-high motivation.

But now it’s February, and you’ve been failing.

I’m right there with you.

I wrote out my goal too. I’m trying to post more than 365 videos this year. I started January with a heap of motivation. Now it’s faltering.

I’m right there with you. Except I might be a year or two ahead of you.

You see, in 2018, I published 30 blogs in 30 days. In 2019, 60 blogs in 60 days. In 2020, 100 in 100, and in 2021, I rolled that right into publishing every day of the year. I finished 2021 having published 465 blogs in as many days. I’ve published 150 articles since then, and I’ll publish 50 more this year. I posted more than 100 short-form videos last year. And I’ll post 365 more videos this year.

How am I so confident, even though my motivation is dwindling? It’s because I don’t rely on motivation. I rely on a system. A schedule system.

My schedule system has two parts: non-negotiable posting days, and strategic avoidance of value clashes.

Non-negotiable posting days

I have a set schedule of days I’ll be posting video content, and days I won’t be. I don’t only post when I’m highly motivated—I post on the days my schedule says I’m posting. I leave no room for negotiation. The “me” that set my goals, and the “me” that will have achieved them both outvote the “me” that doesn’t want to script, record, edit, and publish another video today. It’s two against one. No room for negotiation.

Strategic avoidance of value clashes

I also create a schedule that strategically avoids value clashes. Posting consistent content is tough when I have to choose between doing that or doing something else that’s important to me. Having to choose between posting and being a present spouse, a good friend, or an effective freelancer is a lose-lose. I avoid these lose-lose scenarios at all costs with strategic scheduling. By morning, I’m a writer and creator. By day, I’m a focused freelancer. By night, I’m a good friend and spouse.

Don’t rely on motivation. Avoid value clashes. This is the schedule system that helps me confidently post consistent content.
