Freelancers–Communicate With Confidence And Urgency

If you’re showing up as a freelancer, there’s a certain level of confidence and urgency with which you need to communicate. 

In the world of consumer products, people don’t really care if there’s a mistake. Some angry Karens might make a stink because they have too much time on their hands, but most people assume that mistakes are part of the process. They can always return it, or get a different size, or re-gift it. 

But with freelancers, it’s different. No one wants to get another haircut if the barber messes up. They only have one head of hair. One wedding. One chance to launch their brand. You need to instill confidence and professionalism in every conversation you have. 

Why?

Because at the end of the day, no one asked you to be a freelancer. You should consider it an honor. If you’re offering services to the public, that should be considered a promise. This doesn’t mean you can’t say no, or you can’t make the needed adjustments. It just means that if you say yes to a project, you can’t back out because you got too busy, or it seems too hard, or you changed your mind. It means you have to grind your way though it and adjust your business model on the backend. 

This isn’t meant to scare you away. It’s only meant to inspire those who have the grit it commit to the promise to get out and freelance more. Because hits world is for you.
